“All our lives, we’ve gotten the message and then often reinforced the conclusion – ‘There must be something wrong with me.’ Well, such self-judgment paves the roadway to our personal version of hell. We might be imperfect (ah, how blessed!). We might be different, even unusual (ah, how distinct!). We might even be criticized by others (ah, those who judge tell us about themselves, not about us)…we can even decide it’s lovely to be noticed.
“Let’s re-frame the myth that ‘there must be something wrong with me’ and put in the accurate replacement belief – ‘THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH ME…and there never was!’ Yes, you read it right. There never was! No more complaining about our childhood and our past, about opportunities missed and difficulties endured. No more blaming others for what we chose to believe about ourselves (even if someone else presented us with derogatory beliefs about ourselves with malice – if we bought those beliefs and reinforced them, let’s take responsibility which also gives us the free hand now to change!).
“Okay. Got it! No more complaining and blaming. No more secret self-criticism or denial of who we are. We’re perfectly imperfect – nothing wrong with you, nothing wrong with me. We’re wonderful! We can start celebrating. Go ahead; give yourself a cheer, a high five, a raucous hoot, a touchdown smile!!!!”
